Douglas Weinel Obituary
Douglas "Doug" E. Weinel, age 71, of Houghton Lake passed away on Thursday October 26, 2023 at home.
Doug was born on August 16, 1952 in Houghton Lake Heights, Michigan to Robert and Lois (Spink) Weinel. He served in the US Army during Vietnam War. Doug worked in construction most of his life. He was a member of the Houghton Lake Eagles, Concrete Finishing Union. Doug was a Trustee on the Lake Township Board for 14 years. He enjoyed sitting outside listening to the radio and birds and watching his hummingbirds come to the feeders.
Doug is survived by his son; Ryan Weinel, grandchildren; Aliyah, Jade and Austin; one great grandson, Aiden; siblings; Dave (Debora) Weinel, Daniel (Tammy) Weinel, Roberta (Edward) Nichols, Catherine (David) Wootan and Juanita (Bruce) Hose and numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Military Honors Graveside Service will be held on Sunday November 5, 2023 at 12 pm at Lake Township Cemetery, Houghton Lake with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at J D's Old Town Tavern. Christler Funeral Home-Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family. Condolences can be sent to the family online at www.christler-holdship.com
