Douglas Wormer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Grandstrand Funeral Home & Cremation Service - Osceola on Jun. 30, 2025.
Douglas John Wormer, age 70, of Turtle Lake, WI, passed away on June 17th, 2025, while residing at the Dove Assisted Living Facility in St. Croix Falls, WI.
The family will host a Celebration of Life for Doug on Saturday, August 23rd, 2025. The gathering for family and friends will be held at the Jordan Community Education/Recreation Center in Jordan, MN from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. He will be buried later at Spirit Hill Cemetery in Jordan beside his parents.
Doug Wormer was born on November 17, 1954, in New Prague, MN to parents, Waldemar and Dororthy (Tesch) Wormer. He attended Lydia Elementary and Jordan Schools, graduating from Jordan High School in 1972. After high school, he attended the University of Minnesota, where he joined Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity and worked in construction while living in Jordan, MN. He married Patricia Kulik in August 1977, and they were blessed with three children: William, Katherine, and Matthew Wormer. The family moved to a New Prague, MN farm in 1984, and then to a larger farm in Prairie Farm, WI in 1993. Doug lived there for 10 years before retiring from farming and moving to Turtle Lake, WI. He briefly worked as a security officer at Turtle Lake Casino and a realtor with Century 21 in St. Croix Falls, WI.
Doug enjoyed hunting and fishing activities with his children. He attended high school football games to watch his sons play, as his responsibilities with the cows and field work would allow. He loved his many nights of playing Sheephead cards with his friends. He was a loyal Vikings fan even while living in Packer Country. He enjoyed driving around the area when visitors came to see him, often showcasing local farms. Doug upheld his Lutheran faith throughout his life. He will be missed by his family and friends. We take comfort knowing that God saw one of his weary farmers and called him back home to rest.
Doug is survived by his sisters and brothers; Char (Tom) Voigt, Connie (David) Dillon, Dan (Linda) Wormer, Debbie Wormer, and Wayne Wormer. His children; William (Sara) Wormer (their children, Rayne and Payton) of Wheeler WI, Katherine (Josh) DeRosia (their children, TJay and Tyson) of Solon Springs WI, and Matthew Wormer of Ridgeland WI.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Barney Wormer.

Connie & family, Kathy & I were so sorry to hear about Doug. Back in school he stood out as an upperclassman who didn´t trouble younger kids. Not everyone was like that. From the sounds of it, that same quality stayed with him throughout his life, and that´s something worth remembering.
