Dovard Belmont “D.B.” Hollingsworth, Jr, age 95, of Long Beach, passed away on April 2, 2024.

Mr. Hollingsworth was born June 21, 1928, in Petal, MS to Dovard, Sr. and Alice Collins Hollingsworth.   He was a graduate of Meridian Junior College and the University of Southern Mississippi.  He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was employed with MS Power Company for 35 years before retiring in 1988.  He was a faithful and dedicated member of The First Baptist Church of Long Beach where he served as a a deacon and on several boards and committees.  He was also a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, past member of the Civitan Club, Long Beach Chamber of Commerce, and the Sons of Confederate Veterans.  

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Vonceil B. Hollingsworth; his parents, Dovard B, Sr. and Alice Collins Hollingsworth; and 3 sisters, Lecil H. Lingle, Essay Fay Lord, and Luva H. McCoy.

He is survived by his sons, Darwin B. Hollingsworth (Miriam) and Bruce A. Hollingsworth (Traci); his grandchildren, Amanda Kay Hollingsworth Varley (Karl), Beth Ellen Hollingsworth, Emily Marie Hollingsworth Finnorn (Evans), and Sara Elizabeth Hollingsworth; his great-grandchildren, Bodhi and Maisie Varley; and other relatives and friends. 

Visitation will be on Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 1 - 2 pm at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach.  The funeral service will be at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel.  Interment will be in Green's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Petal, MS.
