Doyle Davis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lasting Tributes Cremation and Funeral Care, P.A. on Dec. 22, 2025.
Doyle Marie Hodge Davis passed from this life on Dec. 21, 2025 at Country Home Assisted Living in Harwood, MD.

Doyle was born in Brady, TX on June 23, 1931, the daughter of Robert Bee and Lenna Bert Hodge. While growing up, her parents teaching careers took them to many different Texas towns, with Denton being her favorite. During her school years, she enjoyed learning, skating and tennis. She was president of her class one year in high school. She was also in the chorus and always enjoyed singing.

In 1949, she married Herman T. Holladay and they had two children. In 1959, she married Harold G. Davis and they had one child. A few years later, Harold's five children were added to the family.

Moving to Oklahoma around age 30, she remained there until she was 82. At which time she retired and moved to Maryland. Doyle worked many years as a bookkeeper, then opened her own business doing accounting and taxes.

Doyle's deep religious faith grew from an early age by her mother's belief and involvement in the Church of Christ. She was a powerful example of how a Christian woman should live her life, inspiring us with her unwavering faith and deeds. She worked full time and tirelessly cared for 8 children and her husband. She stood tall despite being all of 5 feet. Her spirit was larger than life. She cared for and supported her children's families their entire lives.

Her interests included a love of flying and traveling.

She is survived by her three children, Anita Gail Froelich (Clark), Herman Terry Holladay and Marla Rodgers; her beloved children by heart, Linda Gober, Brenda Kelley, Glenda Anderson and John Davis; and a legacy of grandchildren, great-grandchildren & great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded by her husband Harold G. Davis, stepson, Larry Davis and grandson Donald Clark.

A graveside service will be at Bestgate Memorial Park, 814 Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD 21401 on Saturday, December 27th, at 1 p.m.
