Dr. Donald G. Manly, husband of Diana H. Manly, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away peacefully at his home on September 27, 2025, with loving family at his side. Don, as he was known to his many friends, was born on October 7, 1930, in Cleveland, Ohio to George and Clarice Greenway Manly.
After graduating from Brown University, Don earned his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Lehigh University in 1956. He began his career working as a research chemist at Quaker Oats Company. Don enjoyed a long career in business working for Air Products, Abex Corporation and Atlantic Richfield Company. In Waukesha, Wisconsin he served as President and CEO of Wisconsin Centrifugal before starting up his own business, Roli Ink. Over the years he secured more than twenty U.S. patents and spearheaded many vital community efforts. After retiring, he moved to South Carolina where he was elected President of the Keowee Key Property Owners Association and served as an active member of Walhalla Presbyterian Church. Don will be remembered as a kind and intelligent man who always appreciated a warm embrace and smile.
In addition to his wife, Don is survived by daughters, Donna Manly Pankratz (James) of Salem, SC, Lynn Manly Kubinec (Rick) of Bethlehem, PA, Rebecca Manly Fenton (Adam) of New York, NY; stepdaughter, Deborah Stefanyak (Walter) of Surfside Beach, SC; stepson, Kerry Stefanyak (Kelly) of Murrells Inlet, SC; grandchildren Mike Pankratz, Anthony Manly, Alex Kubinec, Jack Kubinec, Seth Fenton, Ari Fenton, Shawn Stefanyak, and Shannon Stefanyak Niedermeyer; and great grandchildren Franklin and Charlie Manly. "Pow-Pow," as he was called by grandchildren, will be sorely missed.
Don is predeceased by his parents, first wife Patricia Jane Manly, second wife Jane Elizabeth Manly, and sister Barbara Janet Despres.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Walhalla Presbyterian Church. A private interment will be held at a later date at his family plot in Gilbertville, MA.
