DR. JOHN A. NEILY

Nov 4, 1936 – Oct 28, 2025

Dr. John A. Neily, 88, passed away on October 28, 2025, at his home in Plantation, Florida. John was born on November 4, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan to Donald and Margret (Oliver) Neily. John was raised and received his early education in Boynton Beach, Florida. After spending several months in a hospital recovering from an accident, John decided to pursue a career in medicine. He attended the University of Michigan and Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he met his young, beautiful, energetic wife, Marjorie Kelsey.

After spending a few years in Michigan, John moved back to Florida, where he began his medical practice and raised a family. John also worked at Doctor’s General Hospital and eventually became the Chief of Surgery. John and Marge spent the past 56 years together in Plantation, where they raised three (3) sons: Greg, Donald, and Scott. Together, John and Marge gave their children the support and traits required for them to be successful in life. Greg followed in his father’s footsteps and became a dermatologist, Donald went to law school and became an FBI agent, and Scott graduated college and protected the citizens of Fort Lauderdale as a Police Officer and Detective.

John had a wide range of hobbies he enjoyed over the years to include scuba diving, marathon running, tennis, golf, boating, and watching an occasional movie. He was known for his dry sense of humor and gags at parties. John and Marge spent the last 25 years on various cruise ships traveling the world together. Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife and caretaker of 63 years, Marge; children, Greg (Libby), Donald (Michele), Scott; sibling Alice (Andy) Neily-Mutch; grandchildren, Lauren, Kate, Jacob, Sam, and Dylan.

Our father’s legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the lessons he imparted. Though we grieve his loss, we find comfort in the memories we shared and the love that will continue to guide us. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, a caring father and physician, a treasured grandfather, and a true friend.
