Dr. Lynn W. Odne was born on November 6th, 1940, to W.A. (Bones) and Jessie Odne in Grafton, ND. Lynn passed away on March 20th, 2025 at Fairview Eastbank Hospital in Minneapolis, MN at the age of 84.

Lynn was raised in Hoople and St. Thomas, North Dakota. A gifted athlete, he participated and excelled in many different sports throughout his lifetime. His love of competition never dwindled! His athletic accomplishments included a total of 6 holes-in-one and bowling three perfect 300 games. Baseball and basketball in high school and college, skied in the 3rd ever American Birkebeiner in Hayward and he was North Dakota Senior State Champion bowler and represented North Dakota in the 2017 National Senior Bowling Championship in Las Vegas where he finished 6th.

Lynn graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1958 and pursued his higher education first at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND and then onto dental school at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN. Shortly after graduation from dental school, Lynn enlisted in the US Army and achieved the rank of Captain. His time in the army included a year spent in Stuttgart, Germany, which afforded him opportunities to travel and explore many countries in Europe. He also achieved a PhD in Ornithology from the University of MN. Upon an honorable discharge from the Army, Lynn went on to own several dental offices in his 50 years of dental practice, and practiced dentistry at several state penitentiaries in North Dakota. His last offices were in Finley and Valley City, ND, where he met and supported many people in those communities with their dental health.

Lynn is survived by his wife, Nancy of Detroit Lakes, MN; his children, John Odne of Stillwater, MN, Leif Odne of Arden Hills, MN, and Annie (Jim) McDonald of Las Vegas, Nevada. He is also survived by his 9 Grandchildren and his brother, Loren John (Kathy) Odne of Walnut Creek, CA, and his sister, Dr. Claudia (Gordon) Gailey of Lady Lake, FL. Lynn is also survived by his wife's children Megan (Jeff) LeClaire, Nicholas Sierzant, Lauren Sierzant, and Mitchell (Kristina) Sierzant.

An informal Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, May 13th at The Bowler in Fargo, ND from 2-6 (times could flux an hour each way- check with the venue).
