Dr. Robert Brian Barton, DMD, age 61, of Manchester, TN, formerly of Middlesboro, KY, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, July 25, 2025. He was born on October 2, 1963, to Robert J. “Bobby” Barton and the late Nancy Lancaster Barton.
Brian was a 1981 graduate of Middlesboro High School. In 1988, he received his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry, where he graduated first in his class and received several honors. While in dental school, he was known to tutor many of his classmates. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Middlesboro, KY.
In addition to his mother, Nancy Barton, Brian was preceded in death by his wife, Yvette Sulfridge Barton; paternal grandparents, Joe A. and Hester Alice Barton; maternal grandparents, Henry Clay and Sarah Jane Britton Lancaster; aunts, Ellen Webb, Barbara Branch, Sharon Clay Swift, and Betty Hartman.
Brian is survived by the following members of his family, who loved him very much: father and stepmother, Robert J. “Bobby” Barton and Georgia Banks-Barton; brother, Bruce Barton; nieces, Elizabeth and Emily Barton; cousins, Melissa Barton Katskikas (Nick), Billy Barton (Stacy), and Don Webb (Sue); and aunt, Margaret Barton Peace as well as a host of other family and friends.
The family of Dr. Robert Brian Barton will receive friends on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel, Middlesboro, KY. A memorial service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Zach Bay presiding.
