Duane David Baty, 69, of Olathe, passed away from glioblastoma and entered Heaven on October 16, 2024 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born on November 28, 1954 to David and Virginia (Wilson) Baty in Marion, IN. On May 30, 1975, he married Susan Kay (Brooks) Baty. He graduated from MidAmerica Nazarene College in 1978 and received his Masters of Missions from Nazarene Theological Seminary in 1981.
Duane and his wife, Sue, served as missionaries for the Church of the Nazarene in both the Philippines and Cambodia. Upon returning to the States, he was then employed at the Global Ministry Center until the time of his retirement.
Duane was very creative and enjoyed writing, painting, poetry and cross stitch. He taught two different Sunday School classes at College Church. He loved deeply and his greatest passions were the Lord and his family.
Duane is survived by his loving wife, Sue, daughters Kendra (Joshua) Brown and Kolene (Robert) Hintz, grandchildren Garrett, Gideon, and David, his brothers Robert (Janet) Baty, Dale (Mary) Baty, sisters Barbara Goodwin and Opal (Frank) Barclay.He was preceded in death by his parents.
His Celebration of Life will be on October 26th, 2024 at College Church of the Nazarene in Olathe, KS. Visitation will be held at 2pm and the service will begin at 3pm.
