STROH - Duane Keith Howe, 82, of Stroh, Indiana, died on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Life Care Center in LaGrange, Indiana.
A lifetime area resident, he retired as dispatcher for Klink Trucking. He also ran the Farm Bureau Co-Op in Helmer until it closed.
He served 16 years on the Prairie Heights School Board.
He was born on Sept. 16, 1942, to Lawrence Russell "Bud" and Rosellen (Fischer) Howe.
On Sept. 1, 1962, in Hudson, he married Beverly Jean Rowlison. She preceded him in death on Jan. 22, 2013.
Duane was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church in Hudson, Stroh Lions Club and a former member of the Stroh Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving are two sons, Rodney D. (Karen) Howe, of Stroh and Russell D. (Kristyn Rasler Steele) Howe, of LaGrange; two daughters, Cari L. (Troy) Book, of Angola and Cheri L. (Jeff) Bovee, of Wolcottville; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Don Howe, Mike (Kelly) Howe and Mark (Lisa) Howe; three sisters, Mary Ellen Johnson, Marlene Carper and Deb (Randy) Simon.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jean Kay Howe; a grandson, Jerrid Keith Book; and two sisters, Marion Louise Howe and Martha Howe; a sister-in-law, Janet Howe; and two brothers-in-law, Floyd Johnson and Paul Carper.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 24, 2025, from 3-7 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m., at Young Family Funeral Home, 222 S. State St., Kendallville, and one hour prior to the funeral service on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at the church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, 5965 S. C.R.1025E, Hudson.
Burial will follow at Wright Cemetery, near Stroh.
Pallbearers will be Roy Howe, Ryan Howe, Roger Howe, Butch Johnson, Josh Howe and Matthew Howe.
Preferred memorials may be made to Stroh Little League or Stroh Fire Department.
