Duc H. To, 84, of Moline, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
A funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline, with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the church.
Duc Hong To was born December 1, 1940, in Ninh Bin, Vietnam, the son of Nhuong and Lieu (Nguyen) To. He earned a Master’s degree in education from Ohio University and dedicated his career to teaching high school, where he inspired students with his passion for learning. He married Hieu Thi Tran on June 26, 1976, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and together they built a life grounded in family and faith.
A devoted member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Duc found joy in gardening, hiking, and fishing. He inspired his daughters to run, and he loved spending time outdoors. He was a caring grandpa. He was a hardworking and humble man whose quiet strength and deep love for his family defined his life.
Duc is survived by his beloved wife, Hieu To; his daughters, Julie (Brian) Locke and Michelle (Austin) Greuel; his cherished grandchildren, Sophia, Caden, Charlotte, Reid, Aaron, and Ethan; his sister, Lan Thi To; and sister-in-law, Hanh Dao. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Hue Thi To, Hong Thi To, Lien Ngoc To, and Dao Huu To.
Duc will be remembered for his gentle spirit, disciplined life, and unwavering dedication to his loved ones.
