Dudley Spangler Obituary

Dudley Spangler, born in Kansas City, Missouri, was the son of Ruben and Margaret Spangler. A natural leader, he served as class president of Clinton High School of 1972 and achieved the distinguished rank of Eagle Scout. He went on to graduate from Westminster University and was a proud member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. Known for his "can-do" attitude, Dudley believed there was nothing impossible from a young age.

Throughout his early years, he excelled in various businesses, A men's clothing store, Grand Rental on Lake Norman and the last 25 years of his career in residential real estate. Dudley was a man who knew no strangers and was a friend to everyone he met. He was also a lover of all animals.

For the past 13 years, Dudley and Glenda made their home on Isle of Palms, where he was actively involved with friends and neighbors. He loved the local Police and Fire Departments, especially during the holiday seasons when he focused on food and community support.

A hard worker and adventurous spirit, Dudley and Glenda traveled the world, exploring all seven continents. His last trip was his absolute dream, journeying over the Arctic Circle to see polar bears, walruses, and whales. He even got to see the Aurora borealis over the coast of Greenland which was his dream a couple of weeks ago.

Dudley will be remembered for his positive outlook, generosity, and the many lives he touched. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Glenda; his best friend and son Scott, and daughter-in-law Kara; his sister Susan Braun and brother Taylor. His nephews, Matthew Braun (Jared) and Josh Braun (Jen). Known affectionately as "Uncle Duds," he leaves behind great-nephews and nieces Alexei, Savvy, Roman, Owen, Olive, Lucas, and Levi.

He was loved by many family members, including Tom, Gytha, Bob, Gaylene, Mike, Lexine, Tynan, and Alexandra.

A celebration of Dudley's amazing life will be held on Sunday, October 12, on Isle of Palms.

So sorry to hear of dudley's passing. Years ago, when we were all young, selling real estate in the Lake Norman area, we shared great camaraderie & experiences. Our favorites were boating on Saturdays & Panthers games on Sundays. Good times to be remembered & cherished.
