Duffy Johnson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Roan Family Funeral Home - Pembroke on Mar. 10, 2026.
EPSOM- Pastor David "Duffy" Johnson, 74, of Epsom, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on March 4, 2026 after a long period of declining health.

Born in St. Petersburg, FL, Duffy was the son of the late David Lorell Johnson, Sr. and Ariel Gene (MacEneny) Johnson. He was raised and educated in St. Petersburg and was a graduate of Boca Ciega High School. He then attended the Florida Bible College, where he met his future wife, Deborah Smith. This marked the beginning of a faith-filled ministry that lasted over 54 years.

Following graduation, Duffy and Debbie lived in New Hampshire for a brief time before moving to Wyoming for mission work. After 2 years, they returned to New Hampshire and founded the Trinity Bible Church in Newbury. Their journey continued to Pendleton, NY, where Duffy served at the Christian Faith Chapel. He then served at the Grace Bible Church in St. Petersburg, FL. Together, they continued their mission into Vermont, where they served at the Community Bible Church. Duffy later began the Windham Community Chapel, where he remained for 25 years. During this time, he earned his Doctorate in Ministry and Pastoral Studies/Counseling.

Duffy and Debbie later returned to New Hampshire once more in 2015 when he became the Headmaster of Concord Christian Academy until 2018. In June of 2019, Duffy was named Pastor of the First Congregational Church of Pembroke, where he served until his passing.

Affectionately known as a certified "yapper", Duffy loved people. He enjoyed meeting new people and connecting them in any way possible. He had a true passion for teaching and leading bible studies. When time allowed, he enjoyed rowing and fishing.

Duffy is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Debbie (Smith) Johnson; his 3 children: Timothy Johnson and his wife Rachel of Chesapeake, VA, Kimberly Brayshaw and her husband Benjamin of Concord, NH and Andrew Johnson and his wife Jodi of Gloucester, MA. He was the loving Grandfather to Cassidy Clifford and her husband Dylan, Collin Brayshaw, Sawyer Brayshaw, Sadie Brayshaw, Kiersten Johnson, Ian Johnson and Jesse Johnson.

A Celebration of Pastor Duffy's Life will be held on Sunday, March 29th at 3:00 P.M. at the Epsom Bible Church, 398 Black Hall Rd. in Epsom, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations in Duffy's memory may be sent to the First Congregational Church of Pembroke, 301 Pembroke St. Pembroke, NH 03275. I don't have any pictures of Duffy because I knew him back in the days when cameras had film that had to be developed and I was too poor to own such a device. But I can close my eyes and have a picture in my mind's eye of this tall, relaxed, friendly fellow who loved Jesus and loved talking about him. We were in Bible College together, but Duffy was one of the "sacred upperclassmen." But even us younger students found him easy-going, approachable, and fun to be around. He was loved by everyone.
