Duran Bishop Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Slay Memorial Funeral Center - Aubrey on Dec. 6, 2025.
Duran Adair Bishop, 85, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Friday, December 5, 2025, in Denton, TX. Duran was born November 8, 1940, to Eldred Adair and Ina Electa (Williams) Bishop in Anton, TX. He married his soul mate of 62 years, Ann Ford, in 1962.

Duran is survived by his wife, Ann of Denton, TX; son, Randy Bishop and wife, Michelle; daughter, Kelly Carmichael and husband, Keith; five grandchildren; Heather Lancaster (husband, James), Kelsie Farrell (husband, Matt), Sammie Sitton (husband, Kerby), Allison Green (husband, Trevor), and Blake Bishop (wife, Barbara). 10 great-grandchildren; Hayden, Harper, Kohen, Sloan, Eli, Kenlie, Owen, Andrew, Bennett, Bradie, and one on the way.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Eldred and Ina; brother, Doyle Bishop; and sister, Karen Bush.

Duran was an entrepreneur at heart and built an incredible business in Tyler in partnership with Ann that supported his family and allowed their retirement at age 50. The two enjoyed their post work life at Lake Palestine making many strong friendships. He had a legendary shop that housed tools from past and current, if you needed one – you could be sure it was in Duran's shop. And yes, he could fix anything. He loved to catch rainbow trout, and the triple 777's at the casino were his passion. They moved to Denton in the past few years to be closer to family. Whether you called him Duran, D.A., Husband, Dad, Brother, Papaw or Pops, he loved his family so much and he will be so missed.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 2:00PM at Belew Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at www.slaymemorialfuneralhome.com

Arrangements are under the direction of Robin Roden and Slay Memorial Funeral Center.
