With profound sorrow, we share the news of the passing of Dustin Michael Bergstrom, aged 50, of Belt, Montana. Born on November 25, 1973, Dustin passed away on September 4, 2024. He leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and kindness that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
Dustin was the beloved father of three children, Kieran, Aidan, and Declan who were his pride and joy. He shared a beautiful life with his wife, Krista Cathrine (Mealey) Bergstrom, with whom he spent 23 wonderful years. Dustin was the cherished son of Michael Joseph Bergstrom and Susan Sorrel (Davison) Zimmer, and stepson to Daniel Lee Zimmer. He was also the admired brother of Brady Chad Bergstrom.
A proud graduate of Highwood High School in 1992, Dustin's roots in his hometown ran deep. Even as a teenager, his drive and work ethic were clear at just 15 years old, he founded his own business, Dusty's Sprinklers, in 1989. Over the years, he nurtured it with the same dedication and care he brought to everything in his life. In 2007, Dustin and his family made their home in Belt, where he quickly became a cherished member of the community. Known for his hard work and generosity, Dustin took immense pride in providing excellent service, always willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors. More than just a business owner, he was a mentor, a leader, and a man whose heart for his community touched countless lives.
Beyond his work, Dustin enjoyed life's simpler pleasures. He was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in fishing, hunting, and horseback riding. He spent countless hours cheering on his children at their sporting events, proudly supporting the Belt Huskies - though his Highwood Mountaineer self may have cringed at the thought. He also loved golf and tackling DIY projects around his home, always striving to improve and create.
Dustin was known for his compassionate heart, selfless spirit, and unwavering dedication to those around him. Whether mentoring young people, helping a neighbor, or spending time with his family, he embodied kindness and strength in everything he did.
Dustin has been cremated, and his ashes will be lovingly spread in the Highwood Mountains, a place that held deep meaning to him. A celebration of his life will be held in Belt in the coming weeks, with more details to follow soon.
