Vincent Gossack Obituary

Vincent Louis Gossack 91 of Lewistown died Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at his home of natural causes. He was born February 15, 1933, in Great Falls, Montana, the son of Benedict and Elsie (Hermanson) Gossack. He was raised in Highwood, Montana where the family lived above the Gossack Mercantile. He attended Highwood Schools, and he was a Boy Scout, which he loved. He worked on several farms and ranches in the Highwood area. His parents homesteaded a ranch in the Highwood Mountains, which was later named Gossack Mountain by the State of Montana. Vince played all sports going through school. He and some buddies took a life raft trip down the Missouri River and the raft tipped over and two of his buddies drowned. This was especially hard on Vince.

After he graduated from Highwood High School, he attended Montana State College for one year. He then volunteered for the military, joining the Army, and serving during the Korean War. He was sent to Alaska for Signal Corp. Following his discharge he began working for Greely Elevator Company. He then began dating Judy Remington and they were united in marriage on March 2, 1957, in Belt, Montana. They moved to Southern California, where they raised three (3) sons, Kirk, Bart, and Craig. Vince became a carpenter and later worked for Neilsen Construction, retiring after 30 years. Following his retirement Vince and Judy moved back to Montana, settling in Lewistown, where they built their retirement home.

Vince is survived by his sons Kirk (Billie) of Greenville, TN, and Bart (Anita) of Lewistown, MT, and one brother Ed of Salem, OR, two granddaughters Salena and Renie of El Cajon, CA, and two great-granddaughters, Emma and Madelyn and several nieces and nephews and very special friends Gary and Sandy Stewart of Lewistown.

He was preceded in death by his wife Judy in 2000, one son Craig, his parents Benedict and Elsie, brothers Ben and Stan, and one sister Alice Strouf.

Private Graveside Services have been held for Vince Gossack in Mount Calvary Cemetery. The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family. The Family would like to thank Dr Forke and his nurse Kelly. As well as the nurses and staff of Hospice of Central Montana. And, a very loved four-legged friend, Bob.
