Dustin James Orsborne, 43, of Athens and formerly of DeGraff, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2023, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, with his family lovingly by his side. He was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio on August 12, 1980, a son of Gloria Hilterbrand of DeGraff and the late Gary Orsborne.
Twenty years after dating in high school, Dustin, and his high school sweetheart Melissa, reconnected. On October 16, 2021, Dustin married Melissa Dawn (Christensen) Orsborne, whom he affectionately referred to as “Lovie”, at Kiser Lake State Park, and she survives in Athens, Ohio. He is also survived by his mother and stepfather, Gloria Hilterbrand and Tony Jones of DeGraff; stepmother, Darla (Mosbarger) Orsborne Rice; three children, Kiara Marie Orsborne, Tristin James Orsborne, and Blayne Lee Orsborne, whom Dustin lovingly called “Mister-Mister”; two stepchildren, Emily Victoria Roll, and Carson Robert Roll; two grandchildren, Oakley Allen, and Emery Jane Rayoum; four siblings, Tragina (Shawn) Nixon of Springfield, Justin Orsborne of Sidney, April (Matthew) Thompson of Fort Knox, Kentucky; and Karissa (Jake) Bowling of Spencerville; nieces and nephews, Trevor Irwin, Peyton Thompson, Alexis Thompson, Sophia Thompson, Skylar Nixon, Tanner Nixon, Lindsie Orsborne, and Kirsten Orsborne; and special friends, Bobby Hall, Aaron Eschmann, and Zachary Rayoum. Dustin was preceded in death by his father, Gary Orsborne; paternal grandparents James and Vivian Orsborne; and maternal grandparents Omar and Mabel Hilterbrand.
Dustin lived his rambunctious young life in DeGraff, Ohio with his siblings; Tragina, Justin, April, and Karissa, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends nearby. He had an unwavering belief in God and that all things are forgiven, and salvation is found through him. Dustin was strong willed with an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. His favorite saying was “Get Loud”! Dustin was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all his life experiences. As a mechanic and contractor, he could fix or build anything. His favorite color was red, and he loved to end his day with a big bowl of vanilla ice cream while watching a movie. He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his friends and family. He genuinely loved each of them, and if you knew him, you knew it. As his time came, he fought with dignity and strength, and full of love for those who went before him. He will be missed dearly.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes Street in DeGraff, where Pastor Matthew Williams will officiate a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Per Dustin’s wishes, he will be laid to rest alongside his father and best friend, Gary Orsborne, at Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff, Ohio.
