Dwayne Grant Garlinghouse fell asleep in death on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at the Willard Walker Hospice Home, Fayetteville, Arkansas. Dwayne was 81 years old. He was born in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan, graduating with the class of 1962.
Dwayne worked at various jobs in southeast Michigan and retired in 2005 from DuPont.
Six years ago, due to health concerns, Dwayne moved back to Sault Sainte Marie to live with his brother Dean and sister-in-law Gretta.
He enjoyed taking walks, visiting the library at LSSU, feeding the birds, and the household cats Guido and Sweet Pea.
A highlight of his life was moving to Prairie Grove, Arkansas last May. Leaving the long cold winters of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan was very agreeable to him. When his health permitted, he enjoyed sitting on the front porch waving to folks passing by.
Dwayne is survived by his brother Dean (Gretta) Garlinghouse of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, niece Megan (Larry) Marion of Farmington, Arkansas and nephew Nicholas Garlinghouse of Lansing, Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lacy and Ruby Garlinghouse of Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan.
Our family would like to thank the Willard Walker Hospice Home doctors, nurses, aids, and volunteers for their merciful comfort and care during Dwayne's final days
We look forward to the blessing of God's kingdom, as the Bible describes a future time when death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore – Revelation 21:4. The problems that can make our lives seem hopeless today – such as poverty, injustice, sickness, and death – will no longer exist. That is a promise that we can have faith in. It is a promise that is sure and true. A promise from a kind and loving God.
