With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dwayne Harrison, who departed from this world on January 25, 2026, after a courageous and prolonged battle with kidney disease. Born on February 25, 1961, in Memphis, Tennessee, Dwayne lived a life full of dedication, love, and achievement, marking an indelible impact on those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Dwayne embarked on his noble career in law enforcement in 1983 as a deputy jailer. Through sheer determination and an unwavering commitment to service, he climbed the ranks, ultimately serving as the Assistant Chief of the Shelby County Sheriff's Office before his retirement in 2018. His integrity and compassion earned him the admiration and respect of many within his community, where he never met a stranger and always offered a helping hand.

His warmth extended beyond the badge; Dwayne was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and he cherished every moment spent with his family. He created countless fond memories during family vacations, Christmas gatherings, and holiday celebrations that will forever echo in the hearts of those he left behind. His unconditional love for his wife, Renee, was a beautiful testament to their bond, showcasing a partnership grounded in devotion, faith, and companionship.

Dwayne took great pride in his family, which includes his beloved children, Amanda Martin, Ashley (Jimmie) Lacy, and Anthony Harrison. He was a doting grandfather to Savannah, Ashlan, Claire, Bryce, Makenzie, Zoey, and Jayden, each of whom brought immense joy to his life. His proudest accomplishments were rooted in these cherished relationships, as nothing brought him more happiness than the love he shared with them.

Beyond his professional commitments and family ties, Dwayne found solace in simple pleasures. He enjoyed yard work, cutting grass, and washing cars, taking pride in maintaining his home. A loyal fan, he often could be found cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide, The Denver Broncos, and Nascar, embracing the spirit of camaraderie that comes with sport.

Dwayne will be remembered for his kind heart, steadfast work ethic, and unyielding honesty. His compassion for others and willingness to help made him a beloved figure in both his personal and professional circles. Dwayne's life was a testament to strength and faithfulness, qualities that will continue to inspire those he touched.

He leaves behind his spouse of over 40 years, Renee Harrison; his children, Amanda Martin, Ashley (Jimmie) Lacy, and Anthony Harrison; grandchildren, Savannah, Ashlan, Claire, Bryce, Makenzie, Zoey, and Jayden; and his sister, Sherry (Wesley) Flint. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Laura Walker, and siblings Sandy Copous and Tommy Harrison.

A memorial service will be held on February 8, 2026, at SouthPoint Church, located at 2010 Stateline Rd. West, Southaven, MS, from 2 PM to 3 PM, followed by a Private funeral service.

Dwayne Harrison's legacy of love, integrity, and community service will live on in the hearts of everyone he met, and he will be deeply missed by all.
