Dwayne Keller Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Riposta Funeral Home - Belfast on Feb. 3, 2026.
Dwayne Allan Keller passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, at the Togus Springs Facility in Augusta, after a very long and difficult illness. He was born on December 4, 1948, the first son of Gilbert J. and Arthena Keller of Montville, Maine. He is predeceased by his parents. Dwayne is survived by his sons, Jay Keller of Montville, and Brent Keller of Pittston, as well as a grandson, Chase Keller. Also surviving are his sister Kathy, and her husband Kenny Cunningham, of Freedom; his brother David, and his wife Rebecca of Corfu, New York; and his brother, Kevin, and his wife Erna of Freedom. He will be missed by many cousins, nephews and nieces, and extended family and friends.

Dwayne was a proud Army Veteran, having served two tours in the Vietnam War. He worked at many different jobs upon his return, but liked none more than being in the woods – either hunting, fishing, or working with his horses in his earlier days.

He loved his many friends and cherished telling stories, riding his beloved Harley, and doing things his own way.

The family would like to extend thanks to his neighbors for all their support, the Togus Springs facility for the comfort he received there, and especially to his son Jay, who was able to spend the last year with his dad as his caregiver so that he could have his wish to remain home until the last few days before passing.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, February 13, at 3:00 p.m. at the Freedom Congregational Church. A private family service will be held as well at a later date at the Togus Veterans Cemetery. For those that may wish to contribute in memory of Dwayne you may send contributions to his son Brent Keller at 192 Kelley Rd., Pittson, Maine 04345 to support the Gary Owen House, which was near and dear to Dwayne and is a local Veteran's place for those that need a place to stay.
