Taylor Funeral Service & Crematory - DeltaDwayne Gerald Pomrening was born on September 1, 1935, and passed away on February 27, 2026, at home in Delta, Colorado. Dwayne, (a twin) the son of Walter Pomrening and Maybell (Schaffer) Westerbuhr, was born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
He grew up in Englewood, CO and graduated from Sheridan High School. He started to work for Miller Supermarkets when he was fifteen and worked for them twenty-seven years, for about eight years he painted houses getting himself in some risky positions. In 1985 he started to work for Lockheed Martian in Littleton, CO until retirement when he moved to the Western Slope where he lived for twenty-eight years. Dwayne also owned three rentals which he took care of consistently to be sure that they were ready to be rented out. He helped his Mother with the care of his younger brother and sister.
He met his future wife Geraldine (Gerri) Beck in 1982 at a camp meeting at Campanion Academy. They were married for 39 years on December 21st. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist church and served as a deacon and greeter. Dwayne is known for his smile and sense of humor always trying to make me laugh and we had some very enjoyable trips together. He was always willing to help people whether it was carrying food downstairs for the fellowship lunch or in many other ways. He always kept his yard very neat, and his vans and cars had to be very clean by washing them every week. He loved his dogs particularly Zorba, a Great Dane, Dalmatian and Saint Bernard mix. The last pet he enjoyed was our Kitty-cat who always slept on his lap.
Preceded in death by his parents Walter Pomrening and Maybell Westerbuhr; sister Lois Mahorney; twin brother David Pomening; and brothers Richard Pomrening and Eddie Turnbull. Survivors include wife Geraldine (Beck) Pomrening; his son Andy Frye: sister Lurlene Vialpando; two nieces Karen (Mario) Eade and Sabrina Vialpando; two nephews Allan (Stacey) Pomrening and Jimi (Michele) Vialpando; two great nieces and one great nephew; two great, great nieces.
