Dwayne Sparks Obituary
Sparky was born on February 12, 1947, in Princeton, Missouri, the son of Junior and Wilma (Vanderpool) Sparks. He graduated from Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids. He was united in marriage to Kim Meier in Cedar Rapids on April 12, 2008.
Sparky was a man full of stories and loved to share about the days he worked for Goodwill Industries, Colonial Bakery, as a Linn County Deputy Sheriff. Sparky retired as the Custodial Supervisor from the Cedar Rapids School District. He served honorably in the United States Airforce. Sparky loved his family. He supported and cheered for his grandchildren, attending their activities and watching livestream when traveling wasn't an option.
Sparky is survived by his wife, and family: Jeremy (Peg) Busch, Jennifer Busch, Bryan (Liz) Busch, Tobey Harrison, Caden, Brayden, Aubrey, Peyton, Emma, Landon, Emma, Addilyn, Brylee, Darrell (Nancy) Sparks, Dave (Ginny) Sparks, and Danny (Jenny) Sparks.
Sparky was preceded in death by his parents, Junior and Wilma (Vanderpool) Sparks; stepmother, Em Sparks; and one sister.
His kindness and generosity touched the lives of many. He was also known for his witty sense of humor. Sparky's giving nature continues to live on in the lives of others through donation of his heart, skin, and tissue.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
