Graveside services for Dwayne Swayze will be held Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Highland Cemetery in Okemah.
Dwayne Swayze was born October 5, 1945, in Bearden to Andrew Jackson Swayze and Polly (Lucas) Swayze. He passed away Sunday, January 11, 2026, in Okemah at the age of 80.
Dwayne was a longtime resident of Okemah and a 1963 graduate of Mason High School. On June 16, 1980, in Morris, he married Pat Jacobs Swayze. Dwayne retired after 30 years of employment from the Ball Glass Plant in Okmulgee. He was very involved with the Okemah Community Improvement Association and the Okemah Golf Course. He also worked with the City of Okemah for two seasons. Dwayne loved all sports, especially Mason and Okemah sports. If you couldn't find him on Sundays, he would be found watching football, baseball or basketball. He enjoyed umpiring softball games, referee basketball games and enjoyed taking part in the alumni games. Dwayne was constantly improving his home and kids' homes. Sometimes, this would result in him falling off the roof or hanging from the edge of his barn roof. He loved to pick peaches from David's tree and blame it on the deer. Most of all, he loved his family dearly; especially his grandkids and great grandkids who will miss him terribly.
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Forrest Joseph Swayze, Lucy Jane Wilbourn, Leroy Swayze, Mary Francis Robbins, Anna Jean Dearman, Edward Dale Swayze and Dolen Swayze; great-granddaughter, Laynie Hinkle and grandson, Joshua Worley.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Swayze of the home; children, Deanna Hinkle and husband Kevin of Okemah, David Swayze and wife Tonya of Okemah and Deaundra Swayze of Okemah; brothers, Bobby Joe Swayze and wife Cleo of Morris and Jerry Don Swayze of Tulsa; sisters, Geneva Vigil of Beggs and Velma Sue Ramsey and husband David of Preston; 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jake Hinkle, Zach Worley, Cody Swayze, Talan Hinds, Tanner Hinds and Hunter Hinkle.
Honorary bearers include David Swayze, Kevin Hinkle and Brettlee Hinkle.
Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home and officiated by Bobby Green.
