Dwendolyn Wicks Raney, 77, of Bivins, Texas, passed away at her home on August 25, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born March 26, 1948, in Atlanta, Texas, Dwen lived a life rooted in faith, kindness, and devotion to her family. She had a natural green thumb and loved tending to her yard and garden. A bird watcher and animal lover, she found joy in feeding her chickens, squirrels, foxes, and the many birds that visited her home. She was an accomplished cook who prepared everything from scratch, and she delighted in gathering her family around the table.

Dwen's hands were always busy with acts of care, whether sewing, gardening, or helping others in need. She was a faithful member of McLeod Church of Christ and a cherished part of a large extended family. Above all, she deeply loved her children and grandchildren, who were the pride of her life.

Over the years, she poured her energy and creativity into her work, owning and operating Merle Norman Cosmetics for more than 20 years, lending her talents to Benita's Flower Shop, and working alongside her husband Roy at Raney's Carpet Store.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel "Mutt" and Howard "Buster" Wicks; her brother, Larry Wicks; and her beloved son, Darrel Alan Raney.

She is survived by her husband, Roy Raney; her daughter Darla Courtney and her husband Jason; granddaughters, Kira Barone, Skyla Courtney, and Payden Courtney; two precious great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends. She will also be lovingly remembered by her best friend, Dianna Reed and her husband Stanley; special friend, Linda Ashworth; and many others whose lives she touched.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Willis Knighton Cancer Center, including Dr. Peddi, Ashley, Shawna, and Eddie; the staff of North Caddo Medical Center Rehab; and the compassionate team at Heritage Hospice for their dedicated care. They also wish to thank the many family members and friends who offered visits, calls, meals, prayers, and support during her journey.

A memorial service to celebrate Dwen's life will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at McLeod Church of Christ.
