Dwight Wesley Brown, 82, of Winterville, GA died on Aug. 1, 2025. He loved Jesus Christ wholeheartedly, cherished his family and modeled integrity, generosity, joy and lovingkindness.
He was son of the late C.W. and Mary Randolph Brown. He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 60 years, Linda Brown, by his brother and sister-in-law Ron and Dianne Brown, by his sons and daughters-in-law Scott and Kristin Brown, Ken and Haley Brown, and Chris and Angie Brown, and by his grandchildren, Brayden, Josie and husband Zane (Price), Maddie, Logan, Kennedy, Brinley and Nolen. A builder, he founded and operated Dwight Brown Construction and Asphalt Paving.
Dwight was a man of prayer with an abiding faith in God. The guiding verse he and Linda included on their business cards was: “But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.” (2 Cor. 2:14)
The funeral service will be held on Tues., Aug. 5 at 11 am at Winterville First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends for visitation on Mon., Aug. 4 from 6 to 8 pm at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home (East), 4355 Lexington Road, Athens, GA 30605.
Dwight encouraged his sons and grandchildren and cheered them on enthusiastically in sports and life. He and his wife Linda deeply loved one another. He was a man of character who worked diligently, laughed easily, and exuded joy and zeal for life. He loved people, met others easily, and expressed genuine interest in their lives and stories. He was a generous giver who readily helped those in need and supported a wide range of Christ-honoring ministries. His was a life well-lived.
