Mary Louise Walker Johnson, 96, passed away in her Wesley Woods apartment in Athens, Georgia, on February 1, 2026. Born on October 22, 1929, in Birmingham, Alabama, she was a gifted pianist and enjoyed traveling. She was the daughter of Alexander Levette Walker Jr. and Mary Louise Hobbs Walker. She married Beverly Burroughs Johnson, a Cumberland Presbyterian pastor who served in churches across the South. Later she earned a B.A, and worked in a library in Maryville, Tennessee, before retiring to Athens. She is survived by her sister Eleanor Jeane Walker Barnes of Calera, Alabama; her son Edward Alexander Johnson and his wife Liz Minkert Johnson of Athens, Georgia; her daughter Beverly Anne Johnson Loomis and her husband Peter J. Loomis of Rancho Cucamonga, California; and her grandson Benjamin Alexander Johnson of San Jose, California.
