Dwight Matthew Dove, 83, of Briery Branch, Virginia, passed away Saturday, November 22nd, 2025, at his home. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Woodland Mennonite Church Cemetery in Basye, Virginia.
Dwight was born March 15, 1942, in Hardy County, West Virginia, son of the late Grover and Bessie Dove. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Cline Dove; son, Michael Dove; sister, June Shamburg; and brothers, Arnold and Chester Dove.
He is survived by his companion, Ruth Jarrett; sister, Hope Dove Barb; children, Loretta Wakeman (Michael), Lisa Papson (James), Jena Cubbage (Chris), Denise Sheffer (Steve), and Dwight Jarrett; grandchildren, Kelsey Dean (Jordan), Kaitlyn Patrick (Tim), Alex Papson, Anthony Papson, Tiffani Wehr, Abby Wehr, Shane Jarrett, and Brandon Jarrett; and five great grandchildren, Carter Dean, Elaina Dean, Vincent Patrick, Alayna Wehr, and Brady Jarrett. Dwight considered Ruth's children, Missy Zirkle, Jerry Jarrett, and William "Bill" Jarrett as his own. He is also survived by close friend and cousin, Larry Crider, and dear friends, Buster and Jean Donovan and Marlene Gnagey.
