Donald Dwight Edwards (aka"Dwigitt"), age 90, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday morning, January 11, 2026, with his beloved wife Connie by his side. He was born July 7, 1935, in Lakeside, Arizona, to Donald Christopher Edwards and Rachel Nelson Edwards, both lifelong educators who instilled in him a deep passion for learning, discipline, and service.

Dwight grew up in Lakeside and Queen Creek, Arizona, the oldest of six children: Clair, Janet, Leland, Corwin, and Harold. He graduated from Chandler High School, attended Arizona State University, and earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University. He served in the United States Navy as a Hospitalman after being drafted, where he worked at Barstow Hospital in the newborn unit-an early reflection of his steady presence, and a testament to his caring nature.

On February 8, 1957, Dwight married Connie Mae Miller in the Mesa, Arizona, Temple. They shared 69 devoted years of marriage, characterized by unwavering loyalty, humor, love, and a shared faith. His love for Connie was absolute and unconditional.

Dr. Edwards' veterinary career spanned over five decades and encompassed several specialties. His true love was for horses, but he also specialized in marine and small animals, including caring for animals at Marineland of the Pacific in Los Angeles. His career began as a bovine veterinarian for Artesia Dairy, and he later established private practices in Villa Park, Yorba Linda, and San Diego, California. His work was defined by unmatched principles, integrity, and a genuine love for animals and the people who depended on them.

A man of deep faith, Dwight served as a patriarch in the El Cajon, California, and Highland, Utah, Stakes of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in a quiet, humble way, and his service was profoundly meaningful to those whose lives he touched. Dwight was known for being humble, hardworking, honest to a fault, kind, and was unfailingly devoted to his family. He possessed a witty sense of humor that brought smiles to all who crossed his path.

He is survived by his wife, Connie Mae Edwards, and his children: Michael Dwight Edwards (Anna), Julie Edwards, Shanna Edwards, and Justin Roy Edwards (Rachel). He was a proud grandfather to Emily, Megan, Anthony, Katie, Miller, Hannah, Grace, and Jonah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Christopher Edwards and Rachel Nelson Edwards, and his sister, Janet Edwards Hall.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026:
