Dwight Wayne Hillis, 67, went to his eternal home with his Lord and Savior on November6, 2025. He was born on July 24, 1958, in El Paso, Texas to James V. Hillis and Avalene Hillis.
Dwight worked as a network engineer for 30 plus years. Throughout his life, he was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. He was a member of Brownsville Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School, Children’s Church, Bible School, and served as a Deacon until his declining health from a serious accident. Dwight has a passion for motorcycling, enjoying the backroads, smelling honeysuckle, and enjoying God’s nature. He was an avid ham radio operator, holding an Extra Class license. He has a talent for electronics and built his own equipment, as well as helping many students with their engineering projects during his employment at UALR.
His love and affection for his wife and children were beyond words to express. He was always by his wife, Sherry’s side no matter what for 43 years. Although Dwight wasn’t an avid fisherman, he was always ready to take a fish off Sherry’s hook.
Dwight is survived by his wife, Sherry, his son, Eric, and his sister, Sherry Boren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his beautiful daughter, April Hillis.
Dwight will be missed by all his family and friends. Although he is gone, He will live on is our hearts forever.
