Dwight H. Himstedt, age 77, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Ainsworth Hall at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King.
Dwight Howard was born on September 2, 1948, in Port Washington, the only child of Howard and Mary (Duman) Himstedt. Following his graduation from high school, Dwight proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served for eight years before being honorably discharged. He continued his dedication to service as a member of the Air Force Reserves for an additional four years. Dwight was very proud to be a veteran and was honored to be part of the American Legion Post 161.
For nearly ten years, Dwight made his home at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, where he enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow residents and staff. He especially loved spending time fishing on Rainbow Lake and building friendships with those around him.
Dwight will be dearly missed by his sons: Bill Himstedt and Brad (Katie) Himstedt; his grandchildren: Morgan, Owen, and Celeste; his cousin, Darlene July; and many other relatives, stepchildren, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and Donna Himstedt.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be given in Dwight's name to Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Joe Dumbaskas and to the staff of the Wisconsin Veterans Home, especially the caregivers at Ainsworth Hall. Through Dwight's many years of residency, your kindness, compassion, and loving care will always be remembered.
