Dwight Edward Skidmore Sr.

July 8, 1951 – December 5, 2025

Gastonia, NC – Dwight was born in Gaston County to the late Judson Nolan Skidmore and Helen Ferguson Skidmore on July 8, 1951. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Vernon Skidmore (Sue) and Terry Skidmore (Diane). He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Janice Skidmore Carpenter (Calvin) and Starlene Skidmore.

Dwight is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Candy Crawley Skidmore, who faithfully stood by his side through every season of life. Together they built a family grounded in love, strength, and faith. He leaves behind his children:

• Trina Michelle Skidmore of Belmont

• Stephen Skidmore and wife Crystal of Lincolnton

• Tim Skidmore of Belmont

• Constance Skidmore Malone and husband Shaun of Lincolnton

• Dwight Skidmore II, of the home

Honorary son Hayden Ng.

Dwight has 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Jim Skidmore (Mary Ann) of Gastonia, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Dwight devoted much of his time and resources to helping those in need and took great joy in blessing the less fortunate. He enjoyed missionary work both locally and abroad. One of his favorite memories was participating in a toy run to children in the Appalachian Mountains. He also took great joy in going on a mission trip to Guatemala with the missionary team at Community Pentecostal Center in Stanley, NC. Dwight proudly purchased and restored an old bread truck, which he used to serve food to the homeless and those in need.

Dwight worked in HVAC for 58 years. He owned his own company for many years and taught countless individuals the trade. Dwight was loved by many and was a generous man. He loved his family with all of his heart, but more importantly, Dwight loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Dwight most recently attended South Gastonia Church of God in Gastonia. He attended Community Pentecostal Center in Stanley for 20 years and served as head deacon. He will be greatly missed, but Heaven is sweeter now because he is there.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Community Pentecostal Center, located at 320 Ralph Hansel Blvd., Stanley, NC 28164, on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. Receiving of friends will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with the service beginning at 1:00 PM. Officiating will be Rev. Eddie McGinnis, Rev. Buddy Queen, and Rev. Adrian Franklin.
