Dylan Lomon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Campbell Funeral Home - Yates Center on Feb. 8, 2025.
Dylan Lomon of rural Burlington, Kansas passed away Wednesday, February 5th, 2025, north of Gridley, Kansas, from injuries suffered in a tragic car accident.
Dylan was born February 11th, 2003, at Burlington, Kansas to Chris Lomon and Nicole Ward (Shepard). He grew up in Yates Center and graduated from Humboldt High School. He was employed by Wilson Cattle Co. and lived west of Burlington. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and tinkering with anything that ran... or didn't.
He will be greatly missed by his mother, Nicole Shepard and her husband Jeff Shepard; his father Chris Lomon; and his sister Danielle Lomon; and his stepbrother Steven Shepard, all of Yates Center. Dylan also leaves his grandparents Gary and Cathy Ward; Jim and Debbie Lomon all of Yates Center. Calvin and Judy Shepard of Branson, MO, Sandy and Tom Todd of Alliance, NE, and his best friend, his dog Smokey.
Dylan was the definition of a free spirit. He was charismatic, witty, funny, and full of light. He had a way of rolling with life and all its waves without complaining or letting it slow him down. He was driven and hardworking. He always rolled up covered in a hard days work worth of dirt in his clothes and a smile on his face. He was infectious. His light was contagious. He'd raise his eyebrows and smirk at you and no matter what you felt; you smiled too. His expressions always said it all, without a word ever being said. He always looked up to no good. But that grin he'd make made you laugh and shake your head, and somehow he'd talk you into whatever plan he had up his sleeve. He was resilient. He was devoted. He loved deeply and was loved deeply. He wanted the best for everyone around him. He'd have done anything for anyone. He will be remembered for his selfless nature and compassionate old soul. The way he accepted everyone just as they were. No expectations. He just loved. He was genuine and real.
He was a friend to all, and a great one at that. It's easy in tragedy to let the darkness swallow you whole. To feel the weight of loss drag you under water. However, for Dylan, let's remember his light. Let it guide us through the darkness. Let's celebrate all his life meant and all he gave to the world. Let's cherish the imprint he made on it and all the lives he impacted along the way. He changed the world for the better. The gates of Heaven opened and swallowed him whole with light and peace. Until we meet again, we will cherish the memories. The life he lived. The person he was. We will turn our faces to the sun and feel his warmth. Close our eyes and see that smile that we all loved so much. We will live more intentionally. Be a little softer. Kinder. Remembering the fragility of life, live for Dylan.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 P.M. Thursday, February 13, 2025, at the Town Hall in Yates
Center. Burial will follow in Yates Center Cemetery.
The family will meet with friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, at Campbell Funeral
Home in Yates Center.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Woodson County Rural Fire Department or
American Legion Post #13 at Yates Center and may be sent in care of Campbell Funeral Home,
PO Box 188, Yates Center, KS 66783.

As kids, we were super close. Running around Yates Center and playing with his WWE action figures and farm toys. We´d get in trouble for playing in the garage and bothering our parents together. I´ll always remember his laugh and how he never showed if something bothered him. He was the life of the party, and will be very missed
