Dynona Alexander Goekler, age 75, of Stone County, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport.
Born in Mobile, Alabama, Dynona made her home in Stone County, where she built a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to her family. A proud graduate of Harrison Central High School, Class of 1969, she was known for her hard work, humor, and the joy she brought to everyone around her.
Throughout her career, Dynona worked at Rayburns, Grand Casino Gulfport and Biloxi, Beau Rivage, and Franke, Rainey, and Salloum. Though she excelled in her work, she often said her proudest achievement was being a “Domestic Goddess,” a title that perfectly captured her love for home, family, and life’s simple pleasures.
Dynona was a proud member of the Eastern Star (Perkinston Chapter) and will be fondly remembered for her endless creativity and adventurous spirit. She loved sewing, gardening, reading, working puzzles, and “making her helmet hair.” She delighted in making candy with her daughters and grandkids, canning vegetables, and always staying busy with something thoughtful or fun.
She was always up for an adventure, traveling to Alaska with her daughters in a Roadrunner, swimming, ice skating, and snowmobiling. She never missed a moment to cheer on her girls, Stacey, and Toni, proudly driving them to basketball, soccer, twirling, choir, cheerleading, and many band practices. Whether she was ziplining in Cozumel while on a family cruise or holding her newborn grandbabies for the first time, she lived for spending time with those she loved.
Dynona’s greatest joy came from her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, James M. Glidewell and Catherine Zeldoy; her brother, Stephen A. Glidewell; her sister and brother-in-law, Wynona “Nonie” and Burt Lindsay; and her beloved husband, John Goekler.
She is survived by her children, Stacey Alexander (Michael Creel), Toni Alexander-Cibene (Mike Cibene), and Ashley (John) Chambers; her siblings, Lisa (Troy) Rich and Michael Glidewell; and her cherished grandchildren, Myles Alexander (Arden Lott), Devin Cibene, Bree Hanson, Landon Creel, Kalin Cibene, Linda King (Dylan Dedeaux), Adrienne (Robert) Litke, and Aubrey Bourlet. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Gracelynn, Ryker, and Oaklynn. She is lovingly remembered by her former husband, Larry Alexander, and family.
Dynona’s heart was full of love, her laughter contagious, and her spirit unshakable. She was an amazing mom, MeeMee, and wife who loved freely and fiercely. Her love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
