Patricia 'Pat' Bennett
On January 27, 2025 we lost our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend of many, to a brief illness at StLukes's Hospital She was surrounded by her two daughters and a beloved granddaughter as she made her final journey home.
Pat was born March 17, 1930 in Philomath, Oregon to Lyle Edwards and Lavina McCaslin Edwards. She and her family later moved to
Nampa, Idaho where her father farmed and her mother was a homemaker. She attended Middleton High School where she received her diploma in 1948. She met her future husband, Arthur 'Bud' Bennett, at a dance in Boise that she attended with friends and her older sister Lila. They married on August 27,1949 and quickly settled into domestic lifein
Nampa, Idaho. Bud worked as a carpenter and Pat was a homemaker. Daughter Barbara was born October 24, 1950, with daughter Teresa arriving October 15,1954. The family spent a lot of time camping in the mountains of Idaho. Exploring, hiking, fishing, nightly campfires with s'mores was a must. Their daughters along with their husbands and children made many happy memories at the cabin. Mom and Dad also enjoyed sharing their love of the cabin with many friends and family.
When the girls were older, Pat began working outside the home. She would find her true niche in the Nampa School District, working as a school secretary and later at Migrant Education Resource Center. She worked as a secretary and later was office manager for a time, she really loved her work at M.E.R.C. and made many friends there. She later left that position and worked her remaining years before retirement as a bookkeeper in the Nampa School District Administration offices.
Retirement in in the early 90s brought travel with Bud, the Oregon coast was a favorite destination for them and time spent at their beloved cabin in Cascade. Mom was an avid gardener, growing a beautiful vegetable garden for many years. Their yard was a lovely display of well kept flower beds, trees and shrubs. One of their greatest joys was watching the birds and squirrels that frequented their feeders in their park like backyard. Another great joy for Mom was her grandchildren, she cared for each one deeply. She was especially proud of her seven great grands and loved their hugs and kisses. Moms other loves were reading, she loved a good story, and was a life long learner. She loved her church and the people, who became like extended family over the years. Mom was an Elder and a Deacon and served on many committees throughout her church life. She was a faithful member until her final day.
Pat is survived by her daughter, Barbara Jones (Chuck) daughter Teresa Brown (Roby). 4 grandchildren; Riley Holtz (Rob),Taylor Jones (Jessica). Hallie Huber, (Casey), Michael Brown (Alexandra). Great grandchildren, Bentlee Holtz, Hayden Holtz, Memphis Jones, Abel Jones, Greta Huber, Frankie Huber and Emerson Brown. Her sister, Marjorie Bird. Numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 72 years Arthur 'Bud' Bennett, her parents, siblings, Lila, Bud, Don, & Jean.
Mom, it hurts as we say goodbye but we know you are happy to be with Dad. We will carry all you taught us; love, kindness, consideration of others, humor when needed, in our hearts forever.
