Earl Dean Lewis, age 85, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, March 31, 2024. Earl was born March 16, 1939 to the late Dolphus and Inez Lewis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Lewis; brothers, Dana Lewis, Bruce Lewis, Kyle Lewis, Toll Lewis and sisters, Ruby Graybeal and Ruth Lewis. Also, Earl’s beloved daughter, Kathy Henson, passed away the following day, April 1, 2024.
Earl loved farming, especially raising cattle. He enjoyed growing vegetables and competed with his siblings to see who could grow the biggest tomato. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish his memories include his daughter, Wanda Greer and husband Jerry; son-in-law, Gary Henson; sister, Tom Wilson Mink; brother, Wallace Lewis (Ruby); grandchildren, Shawna Greer (Taylor Smith), Josh Price (Michelle Profitt); great grandchildren, Ryan Smith, Olivia Dixon, Helen Dixon, Baby Alex; special niece, Rhonda Proffitt; special friends, Jim Stanley, Ed Wilson, Kenneth Crowder, “Doc” Walters, Wayne Taylor, Van Arnold, Dennis Price; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. with Pastor Bill Morefield officiating.
The graveside service and burial will be held 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024 at West Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wayne Taylor, Jerry Greer, Josh Price, Taylor Smith, Ryan Smith, and Logan Gilley. Honorary pallbearers are Terry Reid, Ralph Eastridge, and Dale Owens.
The family would like to thank all the first responders and by-standers who assisted after Earl’s accident.
