Billy Edward May went home to be with the Lord March 17, 2026. He was born February 28, 1952 to Ted and Nell May at their home on Slemp Branch Rd.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Debbie; his second wife, Carol May; a daughter, Kimberly Phillippi; a son, Billy Blake May; parents, Ted and Nell May; dear sister, Lois May Farley; brothers-in-law, Rick Farley, Russell Ward and a nephew, Lee Farley.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Warren May, a youth pastor at Locust Gap Baptist Church and his wife, Savanna; grandchildren, Lilly May, McKayla May Osborne, Blake Phillippi; his older sister, Naomi May Ward; brother, Ricky May; sister, Joyce May Harrelson; brother-in-law, Mack Harrelson and many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 4 p.m. with Pastors Warren May and Shannon Courtner officiating. The graveside service and burial will follow the service at May Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ben May, Warren May, Brandon Street, Jonathan Shull, Wayne Vaught, and Eric Arnold. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Mink and Wayne Wilson.
The family would like to say a special thanks to Amedysis Hospice especially Laura and Gail, and also to Mountain City Care Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain City Funeral Home to assist the family with expenses.
