Earl J. Estopinal, 88, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025. Born on November 25, 1936, to the late Earl J. Estopinal and Ethel Estopinal, Earl was raised in a close-knit family that valued faith, education, and hard work. He was one of three siblings and was predeceased by his sister Claire Henderson. He is survived by his beloved sister, Cynthia Bonfiglio.
Earl graduated from Holy Cross High School as Salutatorian with high honors, where he participated in track, wrestling, and played trumpet in the band. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Louisiana State University in 1958, and later completed Columbia University’s Executive Program in Business Administration.
While attending LSU, Earl met the love of his life, Hope Helen Candiotto, in 1955. The two were married on June 22, 1957, and shared a devoted marriage of more than 68 years. Earl lovingly referred to her as “my bride” throughout their life together. They were blessed with six children: Noel (Elizabeth), Ryan (Peggy), Marcel (Wendy), Celeste Lester (Ken), Temple (Heather), and John Christian (deceased).
Earl joined Columbian Carbon in 1962, eventually retiring as Worldwide Vice President of Quality Assurance and Engineering. He held several patents, including one recognized by the American Chemical Society for his “Novel Carbon Black Manufacturing Process.” His work took him around the globe, consulting extensively throughout Europe, Korea, China, and Japan.
After retiring from corporate life, Earl founded Synergy Resources & Engineering, a successful international consulting firm. He brought to this venture the same integrity, curiosity, and technical excellence that defined his career.
For two decades prior to retirement, Earl made his home in Monroe, Louisiana, where he was deeply engaged in civic and community life. He served on the City Council, was a proud member of the Rotary Club, and was later honored to join the ROMEOs (Retired Old Men Eating Out)—a group whose camaraderie he deeply cherished. After relocating to Nashville, Tennessee, he joined the Williamson County Community Band, where he enjoyed several fulfilling years playing music and forming new friendships.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents, his infant son John Christian, and his sister Claire Henderson. Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife Hope, his children, 13 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren—each of whom carry forward his spirit of love, curiosity, and integrity.
Earl J. Estopinal will be remembered as a man of faith, intellect, kindness, and humor—a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who lived his life with purpose and grace. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
