Earl Gamache Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 4, 2026.
Earl Charles Gamache (Age 82) Of Silver Spring, MD, passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at his residence. Beloved husband of Margaret Ward Gamache. Loving father of Brendan (Kristen) Gamache and Nick (Karen) Gamache. Proud grandfather of Cassie, Aidan, Ella, Claire, and Jane Gamache. Cherished brother of Kenneth (Debbie) Gamache and dear brother of Melanie Gamache.

Born in Utica, NY, on April 22, 1943, Earl was the son of the late Marion Peone and Charles Louis Gamache. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1964 to 1968, where he gained lifelong friendships and a deep sense of duty. Shortly after being honorably discharged, he married the love of his life, Margaret, in 1970, beginning a 55-year partnership filled with devotion, humor, and shared adventure. Earl spent the majority of his professional career as a Systems Engineering Quality Manager for both IBM and GEICO, where he was known for his technical expertise, strong work ethic, and kindness toward colleagues. He had a meticulous mind and a steady hand-traits that served him well both at work and at home. In his younger years, Earl was a bruiser of a softball player, known for his towering home runs and love of the game. He later channeled that same energy and spirit into other passions as an avid golfer and bowler. He held a deep love for the Knights of Columbus, where he was a Fourth Degree member and proud member of the Color Corps, faithfully serving his church and community. In his later years, Earl became something of a gym rat, finding joy in staying active and connecting with friends. Above all, he cherished time spent with his grandchildren-playing, laughing, and goofing around with them brought endless smiles and unforgettable moments.

Visitation will be held at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Blvd. West, Silver Spring, MD (Valet Parking), on Monday, March 9, 2026, from 2 to 4 p.m. A second visitation will take place at St. Bernadette's Church, 72 University Blvd. East, Silver Spring, MD, on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 10 to 11 a.m., where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Bernadette's School or the Knights of Columbus Rosensteel Council.
