Earl Humiston Obituary

Earl Humiston

May 17, 1942 - May 2, 2025

Earl Francis "Bucky" Humiston Jr., 82, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025, in Cheraw, S.C. Born on May 17, 1942, in Fort Miller, N.Y., Bucky lived a full and vibrant life rooted in family, hard work, and a deep love for cars and racing.

A gifted auto mechanic by trade, Bucky owned and operated his own mechanic shop for many years in his hometown of Fort Miller. His skill under the hood was matched only by his dedication to helping others keep their vehicles running smoothly. Known for his mechanical expertise and strong work ethic, he built a reputation as someone who could fix just about anything with an engine.

Beyond his career, Bucky's heart belonged to his family. He shared a special relationship with each of his six children: Shari Lynn (Kyle) Pierce, Rodney (Jackie)Humiston, Steven Humiston, Dean (Danni) Brownell, Crystal (Gary) Parker, and the late Victoria Humiston. His bond with them was deep and enduring. For the past 19 years, he made his home with his daughter Crystal and her family in South Carolina, where they lovingly cared for him through every season of life.

Bucky was also a devoted grandfather to Kristi Kelley, Kyle Pierce Jr., Rodney Humiston Jr., Thomas Cheney Jr., Alexyss Loflin (Angel), Quinn Parker (Buddy), Steven Fisher, Ashley Humiston, Emily Humiston, Autumn Humiston, and Orion Humiston. He delighted in the company of his ten great-grandchildren and cherished time spent with them-especially his twin great-granddaughters who brought him immense joy. His extended family included many nieces and nephews whose lives were touched by his warmth and humor.

He held a particularly close bond with his sister, Debra (Frankie) Brownell-a connection that remained strong throughout their lives. He is also remembered fondly by his sister, Gail (Jim) Finnamore.

Bucky was predeceased by his parents, Eunice May Flanders-Humiston and Earl Humiston Sr.; as well as by four brothers, Mike, Denny, Lou and John; and his beloved daughter, Victoria.

A man of simple pleasures and steadfast passions, Bucky found joy in the roar of engines at Lebanon Valley Speedway during countless summer evenings. A lifelong fan of NASCAR and car racing shows, he never missed an opportunity to talk shop or share stories from the track. He loved classic cars almost as much as he loved a good meal-especially when it came from The Huddle House or accompanied by a coffee from Stewart's in Schuylerville. There he would sit with lifelong friends over coffee, sharing laughs and memories that spanned decades.

Above all else, Bucky treasured time spent with family. Whether gathered around the dinner table or watching races together on TV, those moments were what mattered most to him.

His legacy lives on through the generations he helped shape-with grease-stained hands that built engines and hearts that built bonds too strong to fade.

May Earl Francis "Bucky" Humiston Jr.'s memory bring comfort to all who knew him and carry forward the spirit of a life well lived.
