Earl King, 80 years old, passed away on October 17, 2024, at his Oakley Home. He was born the third of six children to the late Horace and Daisy King of Biltmore, North Carolina.
Earl grew up in Biltmore loving to play all sports, especially football and basketball.
After attending Biltmore High School, Earl enlisted in the Marine Corps, stationed in Okinawa, Japan, and Hong Kong, and he was also a member of the Cuban Missile Crisis Blockade.
Returning from the military, he met the love of his life, Linda, and they married in December of 1969, and he fathered a bouncing baby boy, Brian, four years later in 1973.
Earl worked rebuilding electrical motors early in his career and proudly retired from the US Postal Service in 2006. Earl was also proud of his military career, but he was most proud of the 55 years he spent with his beautiful bride and the man his son became.
In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by Bob King, Hope Mills, Sam King, and Jim King.
Surviving is his loving wife, Linda King; son, Brian King (Jennifer); grandson, Camden King; granddaughter, Savannah King; and brother, Scott King.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 21, 2024, in the Wells Chapel of Faith in Candler with Pastor Bryan Meyers officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. The burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Candler.
The care of Mr. King has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Candler.
