Earl McDaniel was born on December 8th, 1936 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to parents John and Pearl McDaniel. He was one of four children along with siblings Lula, Lloyd and Lois. Earl passed away at Arbor Village Nursing Home in
Sapulpa, Oklahoma on July 8th, 2025.
When Earl was a young child, his family moved to California so his dad could pick cotton to make money. They lived in a tent with a dirt floor that his mom would sweep. He graduated from high school, but he did not enjoy school. When he was in the 4th grade his mother would walk him to school and he turned around and beat her back home, so she spanked him all the way back to school with a hairbrush.
Earl graduated from Webster High School. He married Nancy Bassham on March 15, 1957 and the couple spent 63 years together before Nancy passed away on February 21, 2020. The couple had 2 children, Gary and Sheila. He worked as a Oilfield Supply Foreman. Earl enjoyed bowling in the 1960s and was a pretty good bowler. He later took up golf and played until he was no longer physically able. He excelled in this sport as well. The family bought their home on East Jones in Sapulpa in 1962 and lived there for the rest of their married life.
Earl and his wife Nancy had many friends. They were good friends with Don and Jane Spencer. He met Don at the Oaks Country Club where they were both caddies. They became best friends after they had a fist fight over who would caddy for a golfer. They were friends for life after that. Earl has joined his wife Nancy and friend Don. Only Jane remains with us now. Earl and Nancy had too many friends to list them all. They met a number of them while dancing at the Moose Lodge. They were great dancers and won many contests there as well as a Halloween costume contest. The couple began dancing when their children were in their teens.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents John and Pearl McDaniel; siblings Lula Williams, Lloyd McDaniel, and Lois McDaniel. He is survived by son Gary McDaniel and wife Sherry of Mounds, OK, and daughter Sheila Carol Ramirez and husband Matt Ramirez of Edmond, OK. He is also survived by grandchildren Monica Carol Trumpp (Vance), Martina Renee Ramirez (Mark), Mattie Priscilla Barlow (Josh), Shannon McDaniel and wife Ashley of Mounds, OK, Heather Mears and husband Caleb of Collinsville, OK; great-grandchildren Jocelyn Carol Bankston, Haleigh Sunshine Trumpp, Zackary Matthew Trumpp, Avery McDaniel, Jakobi McDaniel, Macenzie McDaniel, Wyatt McDaniel, Trystan Mears, and Brinley Mears.
