Earl Meyers Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 20, 2025.
Earl Joseph Meyers Jr., 82, passed away peacefully Dec. 14, 2025, at his home in Oakland County, Mich.
Known affectionately as "Pearly" to many, Earl was born in Detroit to Earl Joseph Meyers Sr. and Josephine Lillian David. He was a devoted father to his children Michael, Robert (Rebecca) and Jaime, and the proud grandfather of Abigail, Connor, Matthew and Logan. He is survived by his sisters Anne Berschback, Jane Townsend, Mary Jo Farrar and Martha Currie, numerous nieces and nephews, and former spouse Eleanor. He was preceded in death by his nephew Benjamin Huff and great-nephew John Rainey.
Earl graduated from Austin Preparatory High School in 1961 and earned a bachelor's degree in education in 1965 and a master's degree in business administration in 1967 from the University of Michigan.
A standout athlete throughout his life, Earl was a letterman baseball player at the University of Michigan, where he played right field. He also gained the nickname "Studly" during his college years. Much like his competitive spirit, the nickname never faded, despite the amusement and occasional embarrassment it caused his children.
Earl became a member of the Professional Golf Association and competed in more than two dozen professional tournaments. He worked as a resident golf professional at Oakridge Country Club and authored a weekly golf column for a local newspaper. Earl relished his unofficial role as a "ringer," often invited by friends to play in member-guest tournaments at courses around the world.
After leaving the professional golf management field and guided by his competitive spirit, he established a sales and engineering company. Through his commitment and perseverance, he built the business into a lasting success.
Above all else, Earl will be remembered for his deep love for his family and friends. His generosity, unwavering support and infectious enthusiasm left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Our condolences to all of the Meyers family. We had nothing but admiration for Earl beginning with our work relations starting in the early 1990s. He was a pleasure to be around always.

I played a lot of golf with the "Pearl." Aside from his great golfing, I remember the laughter we always had. We laughed at each other and with each other! I will miss Earl the Pearl! Bill Checkley
