Earl F. Nutt
July 18, 1934 - April 26, 2022
Earl F. Nutt, 87 years old, was born in Oregon City, Oregon on July 18, 1934 and died peacefully of natural causes at his home on April 26, 2022.
He was preceded in death by his lifelong best friend and wife, Margaret Nutt, and his brother, Kenneth Nutt of Sacramento, California. He is survived by his children Linda Johnson, Randall (Carleen) Nutt, Colleen (Ross) Summers, Susan (Tom) VanderPlaat and Jim (Lisa) Nutt.
Dad was most proud of his five kids, all different, all unique, and all very grateful for his guidance and wisdom. He was blessed with nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Dad had the pleasure of working 34 years for the USDA Forest Service, he considered it to be the finest Agency in the Federal Government. He spent most of his career on the Siuslaw National Forest. He was a project engineer (roads, bridges, and facilities) and highlights of his career include designing the paved road and comfort station at the top of Mary's Peak, Cape Perpetua Visitor Center in Waldport, Oregon, as well as the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, located north of Coos Bay, Oregon.
Dad was an avid supporter of Oregon State sports, the Corvallis Knights baseball team, and an active member of the Corvallis Elks. He also volunteered many years for the Benton County Roads Advisory Board, Oregon Dept. of Fish and Game and the Oregon 4-H Center.
He was a passionate outdoors person, who loved to hunt and fish, enjoyed growing U-Cut Christmas trees and always loved a good fire in the fireplace, no matter the time of year.
He was loved and will be missed.

I am so sorry to hear of Earl's passing. I enjoyed visiting with him all those years of cutting our Christmas tree on his farm and at OSU gymnastics meets. Sending prayers to his family.

It has been a few years since we have enjoyed Earl's company, but we have exchanged 'Earl fun times' with many others in these intervening years. Our kids fondly remember every hunting trip that included Earl. There is a bunch of old Forest Service Engineers that recognize their successes were due in part to some wise council with Earl in their rookie years. That certainly includes Chris. Earl will be missed, but not forgotten. Chris & Lois Schwarzhoff

So sorry to hear of your dad's passing. I remember him from the Siuslaw back in the 70s. He was one of few who spoke encouraging words to me as I began my career. Your dad was a fine man.

We are so saddened to know about Earl's passing. He will always be a part of our family during the Holidays. He was a light and sunshine during the cold winter days. Cannot wait to share with our son (born last December) the memories we created at Earl's place.

Earl and Margaret were a huge part of my Siuslaw family. They supported me through my own health adventure with their friendship. Their love for all of you was strong. My deepest sympathy Carrie

Earl was a great co -worker, and he and Margret were wonderful neighbors while serving at the Hebo Ranger Station in the early 1960's. Earl was full of life and a dedicated FS employee. I spent time with him laying out roads on the back side of Mt Hebo, sleeping under plastic tarps to avoid the no-seeums and eating rations. Hard work and long days made for good camaraderie. Our heart goes out to all of the family. Glen & Tedra Hetzel

We were so sorry to hear of Earl's passing. Our conversations with him were the best part of choosing a Christmas tree every year. He was so knowledgeable, charming, and just a joy to spend time with. Warm thoughts of him will always be a part of our holiday.

Linda, I am so sorry for the loss of your father. I vividly remember him and your mom those many years ago as neighbors. What great people they were and always so positive. May you and your siblings know that you are always remembered.
