Beverly Ann Harmsen was born in Nashville Oregon on October 29, 1934, to Theodore Harmsen Sr. (January 5, 1907- March 31, 1986) and Anna Lorene Lutes Harmsen (September 10, 1909 – May 15, 1997). Beverly was the youngest of three children. Her older sister was Gladys Jean Humphrey, (June 24, 1929 – December 14, 2019) husband Jean. Her older brother was Theodore Harmsen Jr., (January 23, 1933 – October 25, 2017) wife Mary.
She met Melvin Lee Nordyke, at Eddyville High School, and they married June 15, 1952, in Nashville, Oregon. The high school sweethearts were married for 55 years. Beverly and Melvin were good friends with Lewis and his wife Marlene, meeting in 1956 in Corvallis Oregon and attending the Nazarene church in Corvallis together.
Melvin and Beverly had three sons, Doug (June 18, 1955 – April 24, 2024) wife Gloria, Brian (August 24, 1957) wife Beverly, and Scott (June 7, 1960) wife Lorrie. They had 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
After Melvin retired they enjoyed RV traveling to visit family and friends across the US. They also enjoyed their winter home in Sun City Arizona. Beverly loved having visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Beverly worked in children and youth ministries for years alongside her husband. Beverly and Lewis' wife Marlene served together planning and hosting events at the Nazarene church. Beverly enjoyed cooking and people really enjoyed her food. She was a prolific painter and gave paintings to many of the family members.
Melvin passed away April 15, 2008 and Marlene passed October 23, 2017. Soon after Lewis and Beverly were the talk of the town as they began their story. Beverly always had something to tell the others when she and Lewis went on dates and her friends were anxious to hear. They married May 27, 2018 in Corvallis. They honeymooned with a road trip to Branson Missouri visiting with friends and family along the way. They settled in Corvallis, eventually having a desire for one more adventure. They joined daughter Carolyn and Mark Marshall in the big move to Nashville Arkansas.
Beverly passed away in the early morning hours of February 7th, 2026. She suffered a fall, breaking her hip and elbow. The hip surgery was difficult and Beverly battled with all her strength.
The family wishes to thank our brothers, sisters and Pastors of Nashville First Assembly of God for their love for Beverly, their care and support for Beverly and the family.
