James Loyde Hanney, known to family and friends as Loyde, age 91, of Prescott, Arkansas, passed away on February 8, 2026. He was born on December 3, 1934, in McCaskill, Arkansas.
He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, especially hunting and fishing, and spent many happy hours outdoors. Loyde worked faithfully at Tyson for many years. Mr. Hanney cherished his family and was the patriarch of his family.
Loyde was a kind grandfather and his face would light up whenever he saw his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
He was kind, generous, easy-going, quick witted and kept everyone laughing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelia Hanney and James Grover Hanney; his three siblings and their wives, H.C.(Betty), Olen (Margaret), and Charles (Sylvia) Hanney; his beloved wife, Peggy Hanney; his children, James Loyde Hanney Jr., George David Hanney, John Andrew Hanney, and Brenda Hanney; and two grandchildren, B.J Hanney and Wendy Hanney.
Those left to cherish his memory include his grandchildren, John Brandon Hanney, Misty Hanney Billings, Nikki Elms, Janet Derrickson, and T.J. Hanney; loving daughter-in-law, Amy Hanney, sister-in-law, Thelma Harberson, a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends, along with over 10 great-grandchildren and over 15 great-great-grandchildren who were a source of joy in his life.
Scripture reminds us of the blessing Loyde lived to see:
“Yes, may you live to see your children’s children.” — Psalm 128:6
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation for the loving care and compassion shown to Loyde by the caregivers and staff at Hillcrest Nursing Facility, as well as the caregivers and nurses with Enhabit Hospice. Their kindness and dedication brought comfort to both Loyde and his family during this time.
Loyde will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
A graveside service will be held at Avery’s Chapel in McCaskill, Arkansas on Sunday, February 22nd at 2pm.
