Barbara Jewell Glasgow Bowers, age 96 of Nashville, Arkansas, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 in Murfreesboro. She was born on July 18, 1929 in Nashville, the daughter of the late, Urban Jewel Glasgow and Mary Grace Latimer Glasgow.
Mrs. Bowers was a homemaker most of her life. She loved to garden and crochet, as well as enjoying animals and flowers. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of thirty-six years, Jimmy Charles Bowers; as well as three siblings Mary Beatrice Dildy, Annie Gwendolyn Copeland and Thomas Courtland Glasgow.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter and son-in-law, Karen Michelle Bates and Michael Wayne Bates; six grandchildren, Brandi (Bobby) Burton, Brent (Brittany) Bates, Shane (Delilah) Bates, Chad (Jessica) Bates, Brad Bates and Casey (Ashlyn) Bates; nine great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Murfreesboro Nursing Center for the excellent care given to Mrs. Bowers during her stay with them.
A graveside service for Mrs. Bowers will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at County Line Cemetery with Gary Glasgow officiating. Services are under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home of Nashville.
