Earl Leighton Reynolds Jr., born on October 11, 1943, in Thornton, IL, was called home on October 10, 2025. Known as a dedicated and humble soul, Earl was a pillar of strength and wisdom in his community in Carthage, Missouri, where he resided for the past three years. A man of faith, Earl was a member of Faith and New Hope Church, where he touched many lives as a guest preacher and Sunday School teacher. His passion for his faith was evident in every aspect of his life, and he found profound joy in Bible study. Earl was also a witty conversationalist, known for his ability to bring a smile to anyone's face.
Earl had a successful career as a conductor for the Santa Fe Pacific Railway before retiring from a Funeral Home in Hemet, CA. Despite his achievements, which include an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity and a B.A. in Biblical Studies, he remained compassionate and modest. Earl's dedication to his work was only surpassed by his love for his family and music. He was an avid Southern Gospel singer, and he treasured the times spent with his family, which he considered his greatest accomplishment.
Earl is survived by his loving wife, Rita Reynolds, whom he married on November 1, 1992. He also leaves behind his daughters, Debrorah (John) Hall, Kimberly Foster, Robin Lewis; step-children, Gene (Cherene) Jr, Kenneth (Teressa) Maples, Cynthia (Rick) Salazar, Timothy (Amie) Maples, Matthew (Sarah) Maples; and siblings, Patti (David) Cramer, Ken (Shirley) Reynolds, Kathryn (David) Mier, and Sue (Greg) Outman. Earl will also be dearly missed by his 13 cherished great-grandchildren, numerous grandchildren, and step-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl Sr. and Norma Reynolds, and his brother, Loren Reynolds.
In the words of the Bible, "Well done, good and faithful servant!" (Matthew 25:23) Earl lived a life worthy of this commendation. Services are under the direction of Simpson Funeral Home. The family encourages relatives and friends to visit www.simpsonfh.com to share photos and memories of Earl. He will be remembered as a man who was truly dedicated, humble, witty, and compassionate. His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
