Earl Ray Swearingin

Earl Ray Swearingin, of Lathrop, MO, born January 9, 1949, passed away on December 14, 2025 at the age of 76. A visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00PM, Friday, December 19, 2025 at Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Lawson with a Memorial Service to follow beginning at 2:00PM.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Orbria and Eva Swearingin, and his brothers, James, Donald, Charles, and Glenn Swearingin.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Cheryl "Deardeuff" Swearingin; his son Adam Swearingin (Danielle), Sarah (Jesse) McCleary, Adam (Mendy) Deardeuff, Seth (Tiffany) Deardeuff, and Ethan (Brittni) Deardeuff; his cherished grandchildren Emma, Abel, Phoebe, Sophie, Aubrey, Charlie, Lucy, Lyviah, Kruz, Chloe, and Briar, and one sister Betty (Dean) Barton. He is also survived by numerous family members and friends.
Earl graduated from Excelsior Springs High School in 1967. He began his career with Kivett & Myers Architectural Firm, where he helped in the design of Arrowhead Stadium. In 1973 after growing tired of office work he joined his brother Charles in building custom homes. Earl found his calling in hands-on construction and founded Earl Swearingin Construction in the mid-1980s continuing to work with Charles, his brother Glenn joined the crew in 1992, and together the three brothers built hundreds of custom homes throughout Northwest Missouri.
In 1978, Earl moved to Lathrop, Missouri, where he began farming while continuing to build homes. Beyond his dedication to family, construction, and farming, Earl had many interests, including old cars, hot rods and drag racing, passions that brought him great enjoyment throughout his life
