Terry Simmons Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Lawson on Feb. 3, 2026.
Terry Allen Simmons, 66, of Trussville, AL, passed away January 31st 2026 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO. Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM on February 10th at Jefferson Memorial, 1591 Gadsden Highway in Trussville, AL. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm, followed by interment at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. Mr. Simmons was born February 8, 1959 to Horace and Dorothy (Smitherman) Simmons.

He was born in Trussville, Alabama, and built a life marked by hard work, heart, and humor. For the past three and a half years, he faced colon cancer with quiet strength and resilience, showing the same determination that defined so much of his life. An entrepreneur at spirit, he owned several businesses throughout his life, but many will remember him best as the proud owner of Kwik Oil Change in Trussville, which he opened in April of 1988. He wasn't just a business owner - he was a familiar, friendly face to generations of customers who were always sent off with his signature words, "thank you, have a good day."

Outside of work, he found his greatest peace with a fishing rod in hand, enjoying the quiet and simplicity of being near the water. A devoted Alabama fan, he was known for his enthusiastic "Roll Tide," a phrase that was as much a part of him as his smile.

He was preceded in death by his parents Horace Allen and Dorothy Louise Simmons and a sister Cathy Lynette Simmons.

He is survived by his children; daughter Carly Simmons Ammons, son Jacob Allen Simmons, son Hunter Cruz Simmons, daughter in law Tristan Simmons, daughter Kaitlyn Nicole Bridgeman, son in law Jackson Bridgeman, his grandchildren; Tessa Ammons, Justyce Ammons, Jacob Simmons, Lawson Bridgeman, Adelai Simmons and Elliott Bridgemen, a sister Vickie Simmons and nephew Zachary Cobb.

He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of conversation, his sense of humor, and the way he made everyday interactions feel personal and warm.
