Earl J. Thompson, lifelong resident of Kosciusko County, was reunited with his wife, Ruby, in Heaven on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on November 30, 1931, he was the son of Stuart and Ethel Thompson (Snyder). Earl lived a life marked by dedication, family love, and an enduring passion for his work as a farmer.
Earl's personality was described as ornery yet full of love, particularly for his wife, Ruby Alderfer, whom he married on March 10, 1951. Together, they shared many memorable years before her passing. She passed on their 73rd wedding anniversary in 2024. Earl’s life was enriched by his love for his family; he cherished every moment spent with them.
Earl had many hobbies that brought him joy throughout his life. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, and traveling to Sebring, Florida with Ruby. A true adventurer and outdoorsman, he walked the Mackinac Bridge on Labor Day weekend for 20 years and had an admiration for his farm and John Deere tractors.
He is survived by his daughter, Peggy Bailey; his daughters in law, Ladonna Thompson and Betty Thompson; and his grandchildren, Jeff (Carrie) Bailey, Jason (Karrie) Bailey, Jeremy (Cassie) Bailey, Kyle (Kari) Thompson, Cale (Beth) Thompson, and Shawn (Sharon) O'Dell. Earl also took great joy in his 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in passing by his parents, Stuart and Ethel Thompson, his beloved wife Ruby, sons, Billy J. and Duane E. Thompson and numerous siblings.
